Posted some beautiful reconstructions by of Barbetta pages that had the corner torn off. The new version corrects some minor bugs and adds tabbed files when you open more than one fronimo files at once, a convenient way to switch back and forth between the files. Thus the final is only a working hypothesis, not a sufficient indication of the mode. However, most of the pieces in this collection appear to be allemandes, though there are also some Polish dances, and some of the pieces have a triple second section, a “proportio” or a saltarello. Again, if you have the fronimo software, it is pretty easy to reformat these to taste. I should also mention that John Robinson has been very helpful in providing tables of contents for all the Dlugorai sections and for identifying composers, common titles, and concordances for many, if not most, of them.

Fronimo Dialogo – Wikipedia
frlnimo It has many errors, and several missing pages, meaning that some pieces are fragmentary. I have also renumbered the pieces. It consists of a few dances and fantasies, but mainly consists of vocal intabulations of pieces by many European composers.
Significantly, by presenting thirty-six representative compositions on each chromatic tone Galilei was the first musician to offer a systematic collection of works based on each note of the chromatic scale. The source facsimilessomewhat cleaned up, are also available on my site. I update the spreadsheet frequently to reflect the approximate current state of the data.
Mostly high-quality English stuff. Furthermore, these didactic dialogues 10 provide an opportunity to trace the changes in the two books. I will try to keep the latest version of fronimo on my site for your convenience.

I completed my versions before consulting theirs, then checked mine against theirs. These include several parodies of liturgical works. These are facsimiles of source documents. American Institute of Musicology ; Neuhausen-Stuttgart: I took a break from Dlugorai and completed work on Attaingnant’s collection: After I completed my edition of these first three parts, I discovered that John Robinson had covered much of the same ground in his editions for LSA and Tree.
It is suggested that his inability to gain court employment as a lutenist, singer, or composer may indicate modest abilities as a performer. This lot contains some excellent fantasias by Francesco da Milano, various dances, and several vocal intabulations with underlaid text.

Completed the Barberis Lute bookv. This includes some very nice fantasies, toccatas, and tientos by Lorenzino Tracetti and others. Completed Volume 8 – Ballets. For this volume, I have started with Douglas Towne’s intabulation, checked against the original, and found to be virtually error-free.
How do I find a book? The facsimile is gapilei very rough shape — barely–but at last–legible. The second consists of “fugae”, which seem more like preludes than fugues, and passamezzi. Robert Spencer and others have found the composer of about a third of the materials. As these are very legible and already in French tab, I do not feel a great urgency to do fronimo editions of them.

Studio per Edizioni Scelte, ; reprint, Fuller asserts that because coherence and unity tend to be associated with a regulated order that may have predictable patterns in French Polyphonic song, the examination of pitch relations are useful because there is no pre-existing froniom or melody as a point of reference-a condition that also applies to most secular intabulated lute music represented in Fronimo. This source also contains many ricercare by Milano, as well as several intabulated chansons and madrigals, and passamezzi, galliards, and saltarellos.
There are significant differences between these two editions which are ignored by scholars; differences which reveal important epistemic shifts in Galilei’s thinking regarding modal ordering, intabulations, tuning, counterpoint and monody in the context of Late Renaissance Humanism.
