Willow Fields is a half Angel. Something previously unheard of, to both humans and Angels.

And her sleepy town, Pawntucket, is in trouble. They just don’t know it yet. You see Angels are coming for the humans, feeding off of our life source and turning us crazy – a condition called Angel Burn. And the worst part is, we’re so enamoured by the beautiful Angels that we don’t see the destruction they’re causing; we worship them. Willow didn’t know she was a half Angel. She didn’t even know there were Angels at all. That is until she started doing psychic readings you’d think that would be a tip off and saw a girl at her school was in danger from an angelic creature disguised as a human friend.
So unfolds a series of events which lead to Willow needing to flee her hometown and somehow use her abilities to take down the life suckers. Some of the ideas in this book were really cool. I like that Willow finds an Angel Killer, almost by accident, and that these people exist to bring down the Angels. I also like that Willow is a kind of hybrid, so her abilities manifest slowly as we learn more and more about her.
The concept of Angel Burn is also a clever one and woven nicely, although very obviously, into the relatively fast paced story.
What I struggled with was some of the simpler aspects. The first half of the book is strong, with lots of things introduced and a race against time so Willow and her companion Alex don’t get caught. I really wanted to know what Alex, as an angel killer, could do and more about his wngel.
But once all of that ground l.aw.eatherly covered, and the inevitable attraction between the couple agel evident it’s genuinely so intense it made me want to puke. Weatherly has literally a whole chapter in the mid section of the book l.a.weatherlu goes something like this: No I love you. The content of the story from this point forward was lost to one or the other character gushing about how wonderful and attractive the other one was.
I’m all for a good romance, but seriously – some book action would be fine too! I equally struggled with how incredibly obvious this book is and how one half Angel is supposed to save the whole world from a whole host of fully fledged Angels.
There are some supposed plot twists, deceptions and lies that l.a.weathrely a shock at all when the truth is revealed. Saw it coming many chapters earlier because unfortunately Weatherly dropped too many hints rather than letting the story tell itself and us figure out what might happen. There are also some silly things throughout like L.aw.eatherly initials being AK which of course is supposed to be a clever hint at Angel Killer but just made me roll my eyes.
Ultimately this was a good story, with a much stronger first half than l.a.weatherly second one. Whilst I liked the characters initially, the began to bore me and make me puke a little by the end. I’m not sure I’ll be able to stomach the second book, particularly as I’ve heard there’s a love triangle involved. As if one gushy romance wasn’t enough! It is a YA book, but once again I found myself reading, and enjoying a book from that genre.
We follow the life of Willow, who has had a hard time growing up. She grew up not knowing who her father was. When Beth, one of the popular girls from school, asks her for a reading, Willow reluctantly agrees.
Beth is sick, thin, and pale. Not understanding what she has witnessed, she still warns Beth angell stay away from the church. Angek is the start of Willows acceptance that angels are real, and that she may just be part-angel herself. Willow is a very warm, sincere character, that has had a run of bad luck.
Angel (The Angel Trilogy, Book 1): : L.A. Weatherly: Books
She is sassy, strong and beautiful and hates her psychic ability. She is the kind of character that you feel sorry for and want the best to work out for her. Alex is a strong, soldier like young man. He has been training all his life to be the best AK Angel Killer there is.
He is gorgeous and sexy and every bit the, hard-as-nails character he should be, even if now and again you do get to see his softer side, alongside his irritating, moody side. From the moment Willow and Alex meet, you feel the chemistry that is building between them. They are obviously attracted to each other, even if neither of them wants to accept it.
The plot is the opposite of what we have all been brought up to believe, that angels are heavenly beings sent to protect us.
Angel Trilogy – Wikipedia
These angels are evil, they hunt out their prey and feed off them until they either become mentally incapable, or are riddled with cancer. With having the views from different people, you can connect with the characters and even understand, if not l.a.weatnerly with, why the angels are amongst us, feeding.
I found myself engrossed in the book and rushing through it, wanting to devour the whole trilogy. One person found this helpful.
