And although this book was free on Amazon Across A Moonlit Sea was spectacular! I would recommend it to anyone! This is the story of the Pirate Wolf, Simon Dante, and the only woman who could be his match in battle and in love. And of the secondary characters, some fictional, some historical, each are memorable without being forcedly quirky and are entirely suitable for the historical era in which they live.
The only negative was that it took me a little too long to get into it and it could have just been me at the time! I have been honored to be the recipient of multiple awards from Romantic Times, including 2 Lifetime Achievement awards, Storyteller of the Year, Medieval of the Year, Swashbuckler of the Year, as well as having been awarded one of a very few five star reviews handed out by Kathe Robin for The Blood of Roses.

That’s an awesome sex scene right there, not. Canham for that fault, since this book was written twenty years ago. In addition, the characters were likable. After a long hiatus from Historical romance of marha sub-genre, I st Both this book and the sequel – The Iron Rose – are on my top ten most highly recommended historical romances list.

In The Shadow Of Midnight. I enjoyed the fact that the female was a strong woman for once, not some simpering doll in a lace doily. In a way, I didn’t want it to end. I’ve read most of Marsha Canham’s books, and while Across A Moonlit Sea was one of the first books I downloaded after The Robinhood Trilogy I put off reading it until I’d already finished two other trilogies and several other novels. However, Across a Moonlit Sea is still a darn good yarn and this is my last venture into poeticism.
There was never a dull moment and my attention was avidly kept the acrosw time. The only complaint if I were being nitpicky?

I’m a huge fan of pirate stories with a healthy dose of romance. Marsha Canham delivers classic historical romance: Simon Dante, a French count with a British mother, prefers to spend his time on the deck of his ship, Viragobattling the Spanish on the high seas, instead of being a man of leisure in the court of Queen Elizabeth.
